A twisted letter that was sent around to encourage punishments towards Muslims got Twitter users using the social media app to show love and unity.

In March letters were sent to houses and mosques across England, Muslim MP was also targeted, encouraging people to attack Muslims today, 3rd of April, with a scoring system in place.

The day, created by an unknown source, has created a social media buzz on the matter, sending trending the topic to number 2 with over 44.7k Tweets so far and as always twitter users have responded to these twisted letters, with showing support and love by both Muslims and non-Muslims.

The day specially designed to spread fear and hate has had an effect on the Muslim community, with children in obvious fear:

Some Twitter users questioned the government for not responding to this hateful day:

While other users took a more comical tactic:

But the day that was meant to create fear also showed there is solidarity between people no matter what their race or faith as people offer others protection:

Although 'Punish a Muslim Day' has created a lot of fear, some took to twitter pointing out how it’s not a one-day event:

Hasan Minhaj, when question by Trevor Noah on the daily show of his thoughts on the matter, replied with a humorous response

“Actually Trevor, I’m optimistic, I know it’s scary but they’re proposing Punish a Muslim Day. Day Trevor, one day. That’s 364 days less than normal.”

However, some users have shown their discomfort on the hashtag trending:

If anyone experiences hostility, the West Midlands Police urges them to do the following:

• Report any hate crimes to the police by calling 101 or through True Vision (www.report-it.org.uk) or alternatively to our partners, Tell MAMA (www.tellmamauk.org).

• Report any matters that give rise to increased fear or risk through your local police as above.

• Seek to reassure worried individuals that the police and partners are monitoring and will respond robustly to any hate crime.
