Eight cheap and free things to do in Birmingham this Easter.

This year (2016) Birmingham Museum Trust are holding eight free and cheap things to do this Easter in Birmingham with the kids.

Birmingham Museum and art Gallery workshop class

Birmingham Museum Trust is an independent charity that manages and this Easter break they are bringing a variety of cheap and free activities to museums across Birmingham.

A spokesperson for Birmingham Museums said, “We’ve got events and activities to appeal to everyone, from brand new displays of Marine Life at ThinkTank, Birmingham Science Museum to Easter egg hunts, walks and talks at the Trust’s seven other sites. We know that our visitors have diverse interests, so we try to offer a wide ranges of activities for them to enjoy across our eight sites.”

Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery

From the 19th March – 10th April Birmingham Museums and art gallery have range of activities for all ages, from learning how to make electronic booby traps and computer games, dancing with Sampad, and object handling, to workshops about drawing, poetry, portrait photography and even art gaming hacks.

A great opportunity to learn something new with the kids, also allows them to create their very own art portfolio and the workshops are all free.

Thinktank, Birmingham Science Museum

Join the search for a different kind of egg hunt left by the Easter bunny. Children can track giant dinosaur eggs from Monday 28th March to Sunday 10th April,

Also play host to the Welcome Images Awards Exhibition this Easter on the16th March at Millennium Point, and will be moving to Thinktank from Thursday 14th April, where visitors can see science-image making from this year’s Welcome Image Awards.

Free to Thinktank ticket holders.children under three go for free with children 3-15 years at £9.50 and adult at £13.

Aston Hall

A chance for the family to explore the past of Aston Hall and giving members of the public the chance to explore the one of the last great houses built in the Jacobean style on a free open day on Sunday 3rd April, from 11am-4pm,

Also a chance for children to design and make tissue paper stained glass window on 30th March 11am-3pm, £1 per child or free for ticket holders, or make a peacock painting on the 6th April at 11am-3pm, £1 per child or free for ticket holders.

Blakesley Hall

A brilliant opportunity for children to try a wide range of different arts and crafts to bringing out their inner acting skills.

There are a variety and number of free and cheap family events happening at Yardley Arts Weekend at Blakesley Hall, on 26th and 27th March, activities start both days at 11am and run until 4pm.

26th schedule includes: Easter card printing, Spring craft activity, and screen printing workshops, you can bring your own plain T-shirt or bag or buy one on the day. Face painting will be available all day from £2.50.

27th schedule includes: willow weaving, singing workshops, a Mummers play and Tudor dancing.

On 25th March – 10th April Easter Garden Trail, where there will be an Easter egg hunt held for children

There will be a variety of other Craft Activity happening for £2 per child, allowing children the opportunity to create a portfolio between the 29th March – 7th April.

Weoley Castle Ruins

At Wesley castle the Easter bunny has had help from dragons.

Weoley Castle Ruins on 26th March to 10th April from 12 noon to 4.00pm holding an egg hunt at Sarehole Mill, where dragons have laid a challenging egg trail. With an entry of £1 per child.

Museum of the Jewellery Quarter’s

Every day will be Easter at the Museum of the Jewellery Quarter’s.

There will be daily Easter egg hunt, which takes place from 25th March to 9th April, it will be free for ticket holder.

Or for £4 join Crafty Kids Workshop with artists on hand for the children to create a perfect piece on 31st March, and will return with 7th April.

Sarehole Mill

Sarehole Mill is holding an event where visitors will be treated to a series of readings and talks: Tolkien Reading Day on 25th March from 12 noon to 4pm, with free entry.

Or you can go on a Dragon Egg Hunt for £1 per child 26th March – 10th April.

There is also a chance for children to get crafty from £2 per child 30tn March & 6th April.

Soho House

Soho House on 26th March, there will be an opportunity to meet popular children’s author B.B Taylor she will be reading her books at 12 noon and 1.30pm. price of £2 per child.

Or you can go on a free Easter Bunny Trail 25th March – 10th April. There will also Crafty on 25th March & 8th April for £2 per child.
