Testimonials

Diane Kemp – Employer - From YPN

“Fahima has been an excellent ambassador for the Young People's Newsroom Project. I have worked with her on a number of presentations she has made to school and college students in Birmingham and the West Midlands. She calls on her own experiences and examples of news stories she has found and had published to enthuse and engage the young people. The sessions are interactive and effective as shown by the numbers attending who want to know more about the possibilities of journalism as a career. It is a mark of her maturity and abilities that she has been prepared to give similar talks and presentations unaccompanied by a member of staff.”

Bob Calver – Supervisor - From YPN

“Fahima was an early enthusiast for the Young People’s Newsroom (YPN) project.

She signed up to be one of the two school of media ambassadors for it and has since taken part in a variety of planning meetings, researched and organised a PowerPoint lecture and then delivered it on many occasions to schools across the city. In fact, we’ve just had confirmation of another of her interactive lectures on ‘journalism as a career’ – to 100 years 8 and 9s at Queensbridge school.

This approach typifies Fahima for me. Her enthusiasm and total commitment to a project, her informed engagement with a subject and her professional approach in delivering what’s been agreed.

She started working on the YPN in February and will continue into June. Sadly, for us she will be leaving before we start this again in Autumn otherwise she would be top of our list to be involved again.”

Janette Bushell - The Company Ltd: Director

“Fahima attended the BFI Film Academy as a participant and subsequently I have employed her on a range of projects for The Company Ltd. She has a high level of commitment and professionalism, so I have had no hesitation in contacting her over the past two years, to support the media work for our programmes whilst she has been studying for her degree.

The projects she has been involved in are :

For-Wards City Wide Launch Event : Photography / Filming for social media

For-Wards Community Workshops and events : Photography / Filming for Website/

Documentation BFI Film Academy 2017 : Writing Blog of the programme / filming documentary footage for the Academy covering Industry Network Event, Digi Fest Event, and course programme.

Fahima has demonstrated her skill in journalism and film-making (both camera work and editing) which has contributed material for our website , the for-Wards social Media and website. She is able to work to a brief and always delivers on time to the required standard.

I have always been impressed with how Fahima has developed her technical skills and personal skills to ensure she is able to work flexibly for our micro company. She has been a delight to work with and I look forward to employing her on our future projects.”

Michael B.Clifford - Grand Union Productions Ltd: Director/Producer

Fahima is easily one of the best work placements I have had. she was always proactive, rather than waiting to be told what to do next. this is invaluable. Someone is my position in our industry has a huge number of things to think about at any one time. Having to think of what work placements can do next can be a burden, one thing too many.

When someone comes along who is proactive, who is making suggestions and providing solutions by looking at the situation and thinking ahead, rather than waiting for instructions, it is an absolute boon. They become an asset. Unfortunately, most people on work placements do not do this and Fahima is an exception. That is why she is easily one of the best work Placements I have had.
