SKY News Ingest- Media Operator October 2019 - Current
after spending two training at Sky through an internship I was approched about an opening, which i took and since have worked as a media operator, working in a fast paces environment with a team, helping bring some of the top stories to Sky news, working on stories such as terrorism, elections and more.
I Am Birmingham - Senior Journalist
January 2019 - July 2019
Started as a student reporter but was promoted to a multiplatform journalist, then quickly became a Senior Journalist.
The online organisation mainly focuses on stories happening in the West Midlands. Fahima found stories using social media platforms and from the connections she made within different communities in Birmingham, such as Beatfreeks. Although it was an online article, Fahima filmed interviews, which she self-setup, filmed and edited, to add to the interview and make it more engaging, with her most read article on "Adults Living with Dyslexia: The silent struggle" having over 1000 reads in a month.
Touch FM - Video Editor
April 2019
Spent time with Touch FM noth learning but also helping create stories which were then broadcated through their radio and put on their social media account. my main roles were Video editor and helping to find stories and edit radio packages.
Birmingham Eastside - Journalist
2016 September - March 2019
Fahima Wrote articles for the site since 2016, buy the website was changed which resulted in previous articles being lost.
Roles: Making cold calls to different organisations to find stories, attending council meetings.
Wrote about sensitive topics and created contacts with people from organisations and the local community, writing stories about people.
Fade Radio - News Reporter
January 2019
Reported live news bulletin and created radio packages, some are available through the button above.
Used communication skills to persuade people to do live radio news interviews and record them over the phone.
used the software Burli to write up stories and websites such as Trello and Slack to communicate with my colleagues.
During the time Fahima worked there the station was nominated for Student Media Awards (2019).
